Welcome

Join subject matter experts from NASA at the Goddard Visitor Center on Sunday, September 24 from 9:30am-1:30pm to watch the live broadcast of the asteroid sample delivery!  Meet subject matter experts, see models of some instruments on the spacecraft, and learn about the mission.

NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is cruising back to Earth with a sample it collected from the rocky surface of asteroid Bennu.   When its sample capsule parachutes down into the Utah desert on Sept. 24, OSIRIS-REx will become the United States' first mission to deliver an asteroid sample to Earth.  The pristine material from Bennu - rocks and dust collected from the asteroid's surface in 2020 - will offer generations of scientists a peek into the window of time when the Sun and planets were forming about 4.5 billion years ago.
